​I am working face-to-face at both Denmead and Waterlooville Community Centres.   I also offer home visits and work online.  Due to age limits on video platforms, face-to-face appointments or home visits for children under 13 in the Cosham and Waterlooville areas are required.

Face-to-face sessions in a setting other than your home can provide a neutral space, so clients' can switch off from their home environment.  This can create cleaner boundaries, helping you to focus solely on your counselling experience.  Thus, offering optimum conditions for a stronger therapeutic alliance.

 

I am a qualified online counsellor and have many years' experience of working online or via the telephone as a counsellor and supervisor.  Appointments can be offered from as late as 9p.m to accommodate clients whom are parents and have children at home.

Counselling online or via the telephone has the benefits of accessing therapy in the comfort of your own home. There is no travel, no parking and clients have a range of different mediums to choose from, so they can decide which one is best for them.  Research by Batastini et al. (2001) shows that online counselling is just as effective as face-to-face therapy.

Online counselling or supervision can be via WhatsApp Video Call or Psychology Today Video Platform.  WhatsApp Video Call and Psychology Today Video Platform are very similar to face-to-face counselling.

I am also working face-to-face via home visits in the Waterlooville/Cosham areas.  Home visits have the advantages of increased accessibility to counselling, which can be particularly helpful for those with mobility concerns, illnesses or issues with transportation.  Home visits can decrease any stigma surrounding attendance or being seen entering the counsellor's office.  It can help clients' feel less anxious and more secure; thereby increasing the depth of the therapeutic relationship.
